In times of natural or man-made disasters, the Department provides assistance with shelter, food and social services in coordination with the Disaster Preparedness Agency and other county agencies. In addition, the agency is responsible for administering the Individual and Family Grant Program should the county be declared a disaster area. The program assists households that have suffered losses in the declared disaster areas, and do not qualify for any other type assistance.
