FAMILY INDEPENDENCE

The purpose of the Family Independence Initiative (formerly Aid to Families with Dependent Children) is to provide temporary case and other supportive services to assist families to become independent from government benefits. Most of these customers also receive Food Stamps. Family Independence participants who are expected to find work are trained to be reliable employees. Emphasis is placed on developing good work habits and cooperative attitudes. Some clients are also provided with short term classroom training to help them gain vocational skills which would increase their employability and value to their employers.

Applications are accepted Monday-Friday between 8:30AM and 5:00PM.
